My Body is a Miracle: Fertility and Self Love with Jenna Reiss

In a recent episode of the podcast, I had the absolute joy of sitting down with the radiant Jenna Reiss—a gifted breathwork facilitator, healer, teacher, and new mother. Our conversation was more than just an interview; it was a portal into the kind of raw, expansive, heart-forward healing that lives in the quiet spaces between joy and grief, hope and uncertainty, motherhood and becoming.

Jenna has built her life around creating safe, transformational spaces for others to breathe, feel, and heal. From large-scale retreats to intimate one-on-one sessions, her work blends the ancient wisdom of breathwork and meditation with deeply personal insight. In this episode, we explore what it truly means to hold space for others while still holding yourself with care.

Self-Love as a Healing Anchor

One of the most powerful themes that emerged from our conversation was Jenna’s unwavering commitment to self-love. Through her fertility journey—three years of trying, one year of IVF, a miscarriage of twins, and the eventual birth of her rainbow baby—Jenna learned how to soften into the truth that "her body is a miracle."

During a deeply emotional moment in her fertility process, she was told by a doctor that what had occurred with her embryo splitting into twins happens to only 1% of women. Instead of focusing on the loss, she heard something else: a whisper that her body was a miracle. This became a mantra, a lifeline, and a truth she carried forward into pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood.

The Shadow Self and Releasing Shame

We talked about the "shadow self"—the parts of us we often hide away because they feel unlovable. Jenna shared her own journey of embracing these pieces, and why the idea behind "shadow self" and "higher self" don't resonate because it puts us into a framework of "good" and "bad". By allowing ourselves to witness and bring compassion to our most hidden parts, we begin to reclaim our wholeness. While also giving ourselves grace, because we can't be our "highest selves" all of the time. This work, she says, isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being radically human.

Redefining Worth in Motherhood

After trying so hard to become pregnant, the reality of early motherhood still rocked her. There were moments of guilt, overwhelm, identity loss, and sheer exhaustion. And yet, Jenna speaks candidly about how her spiritual practice evolved to meet her where she was—in micro-moments.

It wasn’t about having the perfect morning ritual anymore. It was about the exhale while holding her baby, the mindfulness during a quiet feeding, or the breath she took as he slept on her chest. These "micro moments" became the new spiritual practice. One of the most beautiful takeaways? That one exhale can slow down time.

Creating Transformative Spaces

Jenna also shared about her retreat, Expanded Wild Hearts, and her upcoming Healer Training Level 1 course. The retreat, designed to move participants through both the gritty and expansive parts of themselves, was born from her own need to find more depth and softness in healing spaces. It guides people through layers of healing, self-love practices, and ultimately into greater connection with themselves and others.

As a teacher and space holder, Jenna is deeply aware of the vulnerability it takes to lead. She spoke about the early days of guiding large groups and how she had to learn to stand firmly in her worth—to let both praise and criticism hold equal weight. That wisdom now anchors her work, especially in the ways she supports others in becoming facilitators themselves.
